True charles, audiogames has more members do we really want more info
to be sent to this list.
I personally don't have the time for high traffic especially since I
check both.
The only difference is unless I need to I check the forum once a day.
I also only read what I want.
This list should only exist as long as there are people that need it.
Ie if you are on dialup or don't have the time or care to use the
forums you should use it.
A lot of what is on here that needs repeating on the forums is posted there.
The tech has evolved.
The audyssey magazine while it was quite good is hardly updated
now and as it stands has outlived its usefullness.
Just about every respectible dev/ hacker/ whatever has their own
facebook twitter, or blog and a website or the combination of all of
these or one of these.
And anyone that wants to be noticed needs to make a name for himself
on the forum.
And this from a guy that didn't care much for them has grown to rely
on these as a good info source.
The cons of the forum is that to be honest it can get to
large, stuff can get lost quite easily.
On an email I find easier to just ask another topic or bring back an old one.
I don't however want everything to get scrambled so I have to go to
several places at once.
I do think though that at some point it would be usefull to have a
mirror of the audiogames database or at least the forum if not the
total site just for backup purposes and or if things go nuts.
While I enjoy this list with all the ups and down, I do feel that
eventually this list as nice as it is will eventually loose
rellivance and die naturally.
Right now though most info on here is about people asking game
questions and talking a little about games.
Its a good place to get started but if you want to go further then
you really need the forums.
One thing I like about the forums is as long as you follow the rules
you can do whatever.
Restrictions are less because of threads.
If I think something doesn't sit with me I can bypass it.
If I want to comment I can.
If I want to be offtopic about something i can switch channels to a
channel that allows this.
In an email list I can't.
On the other hand the forum is wilder than the list is.
Unless you are a cracker or a flamer, or generally cause trouble you
are expected to fend for yourself and find friends and other like in
the real world.
With an email list you can't do this because everyone needs to read
everything you put in.
You are restricted to 1 topic and it can be quite close quarters and
in your face.
Put it this way, if i want to mildly explode as long as I don't go
completely berserk I can.
I have even seen someone or 2 go a bit that way and as long as there
is something just you will be argued up and down depending on who has
the most traction and such.
here though I can't really do that.
Not that I go round going nuts every day of my life but the forum is
definatly a good way to go for big things as well as here.
On the forums there is slightly more spam and occationally someone
will put their game up and its not accessable thinking its a general
games forum.
Though there have been devs that on reading the responces if there
are enough of them come back and think it worth while to accessify the game.
I have found the forum in some ways more relaxing than emails in some
ways because if I am pissed off about something I don't need to read
or respond.
With email its in my face and I usually will feel I should respond
even though I know I don't have to.
I do think we should have a few places where we put info so its not
scattered all over the webs.
If it does happen we need to know where it all is or the biggest concentration.

Wouldn't it cause the awareness of gaming information to be more
scattered? Information is already sent to Audyssey that is not sent
to Audiogames and vice versa? This would only magnify the problem.

Hi Ishan,
I guess that all depends on how it is setup and moderated. I could
have done this along time ago by setting up an Audyssey group on
Facebook if I thought people were interested in such a thing, but
until now it was sort of a non-issue.
I guess my question is what advantages would there be in having a
Facebook group over the list?
The thing is there is already the Audio Games forum at Audiogames.net
and this list. While Facebook could offer another option I don't
really see the point or the advantage since there are already two
discussion methods available. If there is some specific advantage I'm
missing of course I might join it, might even set it up as part of
Audyssey, but right now I just see it as unnecessary. So what's the
advantage?
