Hi Bryan,No, sofware emulation is not illegal. There are all kinds of emulators out there and some of them are build in to operating systems. For example the Lindows os came with a state-of-the-art windows emulator which allow the installation of Windows based software to run with the Lindows os. The Linux operating systems come with a program called wine that can be used to run MS Office, Quicken, and other home and office programs from Windows. Illegal? No as long as the software you are installing is a legally registered copy. The way it works for most games if you own the original version of the game for the console you also have rights to play it using Windows, Linux, etc emulators.
