Hi everyone, In an earlier post I had mentioned I would be converting the game over to use the USA Games Engine2D.dll rather than Montezuma's Revenge's own engine. Well, I did that this week, and there were a large number of bugs, errors, and problems with doing so. As a result I have rolled back to a previous source branch, and chose to simply upgrade the Monty engine with the necessary changes that need to be made in order to get this game ready for the prime time. I do intend to have this thing either done or near done by Christmas, and that is a big big hope. Anyway, one thing I have recently done is I have completely rewritten the jump code from scratch. So far it seams to work very well with a couple of unresolved issues. For one thing I have not been able to jump through a wall no matter how many times I have tried. I've actually sat there holding the control key and the arrow key down letting panama Joe beat himself senseless against a wall, and has not gone through it. Second, I've died many many times while testing, and not once has it respawned anywhere but at the beginning of the level. This will be proven once it goes into private and later public testing, but there is a good chanse the death bug may be gone. The down side is the ropes and chains are no longer working correctly. I can jump onto a rope, but swinging off of them doesn't quite work right any more. I'm still looking into this very unusual bug. A few days ago someone reported a bug with using multiple swords when attacking monsters. This bug has been squished. Now, as of beta 2 difficult level now operates more like original Monty. In clasic Monty when Panama Joe just merely touched a monster death was immediate. Well, difficult level now will sometimes kill you when just coming in contact with a monster. Cheers.
