well, sinse you can just read the groups page like a web forum rather than 
having messages delivered to you, traffic doesn't matter.

but things did seem to get a tad technical, in discussion about the parza 
and various merrits of If languages, and how game X could've been better for 
being in language Y.

that was a couple of years ago though, so it might have changed, ---- or i 
might just have caught a particular bundle of tech discussion.

For keeping up with If releases and reviews though, i'd recommend the web 
magazine Spag, ----- which certainly isn't too technical and is often quite 
fun.
