That it was. I happen to have an NSF file containing all the music and SFX from the game. The SFX weren't very varied but the music was pretty cool. Each character has his or her own theme that fit their personality very well. One of the characters, Rayzor, is a punk rocker and her theme was pretty darn catchy.
