Thanks for the hint,
I was sellecting the torch with enter, but but not hitting the space bar
to light it.
Now after lighting the torch, I can see!
And I now hear the torch burning sound!
Boy, there's a lot of stuff to pick up!

Greetings Alex,
A torch is not automatically when it is selected. To do so, depress your
item application key (Spacebar for the keyboard layout). Upon doing so,
a
continuous "fire" sound effect should play for the duration of your
torch's
lit condition.
