I knew they were in mythology. But since you said you couldn't find
anything in the code to explain that, I wasn't sure whether my
assumptions were right.

Yes, they are. The harpies claws are extremely poisoness to humans.
Even a single scratch can kill you without a potion etc to counter act
the poison. Definitely one good reason to kill them at a distance.
