Hi Ron,
Yes. For the most part if you want to run an older voice such as AT&T
Crystal, AT&T Mike, etc its as simple as running the installer,
installing the voice, and once you have it installed access the 32-bit
control panel for Sapi. To do that press Windows+r to open the run
dialog, and then type the command
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Speech\SpeechUX\sapi.cpl
into the run dialog, and press enter. From that point on you can set up
Mike, Crystal, Audry, Charles, or any of the At&T voices you own for
games and applications.
A disclaimer though. Although, this generally works in most cases it
doesn't work for every older voice. The Real Speak voices that came with
Jaws, for example, the setup/installer program fails about half way
through the install. The Neospeech voices like Kate and Paul crash the
system when set as your default Sapi voice. However, I can say the AT&T
voices I have tried such as Crystal, Mike, Charles, Audry, and Lorn all
work good though. The Cepstral voices I've tried work alright as does
the Cereproc voices.
Cheers!

Hey Tom.
Is it really that easy?
Can we just simply install the voices from the old disk that came with
jaws.
Then to get the old favorites of the old 16 bit voices to work in the
64 bit world is to use the run command and plug in the command
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Speech\SpeechUX\sapi.cpl
Could you give step by step instructions?
Now I need to go find our diskette full of the older 16 bit AT&T
voices on it.
