Interesting Darren, though in fairness it's a little hard for me to choose
sinse I rarely give a game drive or favourites space if I don't think it'll
be replayable at least some! time in the future, even if just for repeating
the experience at some stage, like watching a filnm again. i've thus even
replayed chillingham and gg both three times I believe.
Nevertheless, here are the top games in my list of replayers.
Core exiles, like Darren I've played off and on sinse about the end of 2010
(and a little less seriously before that). though i've had a couple of
breaks, something makes me just keep coming back, more than with other
brouser games. There are other games, KoL, torn city, twilight heroes that
I've tried a couple of times, but even on the second try I just find they
don't hold my interest like Ce.
alteraeon: vies with ce as my major online game of choice. Thelok and I
started journeying in christmas of 2010, and while I've not been a frequent
player (due to my phd, ce, game testing, and a small measure of frustration
as per our recent list discussion), I still have come back after a break for
some more questing, exploring and fighting, and will probably do so even
more now that the frustration factor is less, and the atmosphere has
received a boost thanks to Dentin and the review corpse command.
In addition to the points darren made I'll also add that Ce is continually
expanding, indeed I often check the forum to see what updates are made.
Chronicles of Arborell, www.arborell.com. Gamebooks are for me usually a
once through and done, then back through again several months later when
I've forgotten the plot if the book was good enough or if I wanted to find
other ways through. I've thus played the lone wolf series three times.
Arborell though I find the exception, especially all their extra fiction,
just because of te quality of the world, depth and atmospheric style, not to
mention the random generating twilight game. I think i've played through
windhammer and shards of moonlight at least five times, and read the fiction
on the site more times than that.
Eamon deluxe: Yes, i know it's crazy of me to include something I'm beta
testing, but this one I just can't put down, even adventures I've cleared I
end up going back to. When this is released I urge everyone to try it, good
old textual solo dungeon hacking at it's best, ---- with no guess the verb
puzzles, but lots of monsters to fight and even chances to advance your
character, through everything from short dungeons to massive epics. I can't
wait for the full release with it's 170 odd adventures with more to come.
Pipe 2 blast chamber, hunter and esp pinball. I have no idea why, out of all
the arcade games I own, it is these titles that I play the most. But when
I'm sitting on a train, or waiting for something to happen, i'm far more
likely to want some quick pinball, some hunting or some pipe blasting than
any other game. I don't know why, whether it's the sounds, immersion factor
or what, but I just find that these are the games I pick up the most even
over things like troopanum, alien outback, judgement day, jim's pong or
puppy 1 or any of the other arcade games I have. I'll play them
certainly, ---- I just don't know why it doesn't occur to me to play them as
much as the esp pinball games, hunter or pipe 2.
Entombed: http://www.blindcomputergames.com/ I've been through this game
more times than I can count. Even with the imbalances and bugs, it has still
so much replay value it's not funny!
Beware the grue!
Dark.
