Well, that all depends on weather the game developer intends to sell
software or not. If he or she intends to release free games like Jim
Kitchen does the answer is no. The developer isn't making money
therefore doesn't need to file separate tax forms for the company and
himself. However, if a person intends to start a game company and
sells software then yes they do need to become officially licensed.
Either by being incorporated or choosing a limited liability company.
The reason is for tax purposes which separates your personal income
from your company's income. Generally speaking for something like PCs
Games, GMA Games, USA Games, etc an LLC is probably the best option
available.
