Funny ben, I've never seen candy canes in the Uk before, even at seaside towns.

I know there is a lot of variation though and a lot of american stuff can be found in London specifically but less often in other parts, ---- for example a friend of mine was saying that cina bon, an us cake firm who do doughnuts with cream and other fried stuff exist now in London, though I've never seen one in newcastle, nottingham, durham, eastborn or the other places around the country I've been.

As to different versions, to be honest I disagree utterly, sinse the pretext to having different versions is precisely to avoid! segrigation and celibrate diversity.

The impetus for this discussion was precisely because! so much of American culture gets exported to other countries, but not much of other culture gets imported into America.

Thus, having a diversity in choices available that celibrate regional differences is bennificial to everyone.

Look at monopoly. to me, playing on the American board with madison avinue and the other streets would be just plane wrong! sinse for myself monopoly is associated with the London map, indeed I remember my dad often used to buy roads on their historical significance, ---- like he bought old kent road and whitechapple because old kent road apparently at one time had a Jewish getto, while whitechapple is famously associated with jack the ripper.

my mum always tries to buy regent street because she lived there, where as I myself like to own the strand and bakers street for their associations with literature.

So, there is a hole lot of history and personal interest in playing monopoly on the London board that we'd just not get if playing with an american one, ---- and I can believe that this is probably just the same for most people living in different countries with different history.

That's why it's great there are various monopoly boards available.

i suggest the changes to candy land not because I think Uk names for sweets are better, but precisely for this quality of nostalgia, sinse to me, getting stuck in treacle toffee would be a lot more believeable and bare more mental signficance than on something called a sour patch that I'd not heard of before, and I'm pretty sure if, sinse it just comes down to labeling, anyone from any other country would want changes to reflect their culture this would be doable to.

Also, the more diverse things are, the more different experiences are available. I actually myself enjoy! finding out about different cultures and experiencing them, so if for instance someone from India wanted a version with indian sweets I'd find that quite interesting to look at.

Beware the grue!

Dark.
