IMHO a Ganglia BoF would be of value. I think Ganglia should be represented at next year's Open Source Cluster and Grid Conference as well. The latter meeting may be more valuable.

As a long-time ganglia fan, I'm suddenly seeing new and greater value then ever before.

Yes, we both started looking at Ganglia around the same time through
OSCAR -- it has been a while :-)

It seems that almost all of what we want already exists in the gmond and
gmetad. I think we need to extend the XML to include some missing
metrics, but we see that you have the Gmond Python metric modules to
handle this. Our preference would be to include all the metrics in the
default install, but we'll take it one step at a time. A network of
gmetas can provide all the information a grid metascheduler could want.

Have you guys had a chance to test out 3.1.x with the Python metric
modules support? There is also documentation available here:

We're going to bat this around for a while. Again, anyone coming to
Dresden next week please drop me a note so we can meet!

Not going to Dresden but looking forward I am curious if folks would
have a general interest in say a Ganglia BoF at SuperComputing '08? :)

Cheers,

Bernard
