Yes, that's the thread I remembered, thanks.

Indeed we are using redhat (CentOS 4 in this case) x86 with kernel
2.6.9 and ethernet card "Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme II BCM5708
Gigabit Ethernet (rev 12)" - exactly the combination others reported.

If I understand that thread correctly, this problem is fixed by either
upgrading to a kernel 2.6.17 or later, or gmond 3.1.1 works around it?
The latter was a bit ambiguous, I'm not sure if 3.1.1 actually does so.
