In Ganglia the rrd files allow you to look at data from now back an hour, or from now back a day,
or now back a week, or now back a year. What it does not allow you to do is look for data for
a specific time period in the past (i.e. last Tuesday from 3PM to 4PM). This is just not possible
with the way the rrd database works.

HI Steven,
I am looking for the total memory and cpu load either per day or atleast per week. I believe this is the standard metrics for ganglia. Isn't it? If so, are these values present in rrd files?
Thanks,
Abhi.

The rrd files are the only "logs" unless you count the ones for apache or whatever web
you are using to serve the ganglia web frontend pages.

When you say "cluster usage" what specifically are you referring to?
User that have been logged in or running jobs? Or are you referring to
the memory or cpu load of the cluster?

If the details you are looking for are not one of the standard metrics tracked by
ganglia or a custom metric you have created/added to the system then it will
not be available.

Subject: [Ganglia-general] log file

Hi,
Could someone tell me where is the default location of the log file for
ganglia if any? I want to see the cluster usage in last few months. Is
there any way I could see that?
Thanks,
Abhi.
