Hi Steve: What you should have done is after setting up Server B, copy the contents of /var/lib/ganglia/rrds over from Server A *before* starting gmetad on Server B.
Assuming all the configurations are identical between Server A and Server B, the web interface should display both the history data originally from Server A and any new data being collected on Server B. You may run into issues like mismatched hostnames, etc, so pay attention to the directory names inside /var/lib/ganglia/rrds. As to what you can do now -- if you are okay with losing the new data you have collected so far from Server B, you can attempt what I have laid out above. If not, then you may be able to run rrdtool dump (man rrddump) on the individual RRDs and try to merge the data. Another option is to customize the frontend to just read the archived RRDs from Server A as static data. Check out this post for some ideas: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg05508.html Cheers, Bernard On Fri, Aug 27, 2010 at 7:24 AM, CHU, STEPHEN H (ATTSI) <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi all, > > > > We have Ganglia 3.0.2 running on Server A for about a year to monitor 10 > gmond clients so we’ve accumulated lots of historical data.
