I laughed at that too, given that they ran up 57 points on poor little CS. So
at least we have the parameters defined. If we score 57 points against them,
that's not running up the score. Good to know. Of course, I think this whole
concept of running up the score is nonsense. It's the offense's job to score
and the defense's job to stop them. Both should do their best throughout the
whole game. Sure you send in your second and third string once the score is
high. But that's not to keep the score down, it's to reduce the risk of
injuries to your starters and to give your young players a chance to play.

First of all, I'm not surprised at the poor grammar coming from the coach of
a "wannabe" school, but I'm also not surprised at the "telegraphed" plea for
mercy. So, he won't "run up the score on nobody", huh? Well, what does he do
then? Pull his starters and tell his second and third string that they may
never see the field again this season, but regardless, DON'T SCORE!"? What a
transparent load of crap!

BLOWOUT ALERT?
Shannon was told there was talk that Florida coach Urban Meyer might run up
the score to assert the Gators' dominance after losing six consecutive games to
the Hurricanes, dating to 1986. It could do wonders for recruiting.
''I don't worry about what he does,'' Shannon said. ``If that's what he
chooses to do -- they've got a great offense. They've got a great team. You've
got a Heisman Trophy candidate [Tebow]. [Wide receiver] Percy Harvin is a
Heisman Trophy candidate. The last couple of years they've been in the top five
in recruiting. They've got the talent to do it. I don't know what Urban is
going to do. I can't control what another coach does. I won't run the score up
on nobody.''
