I look at it a little differently. It is important for newer players to learn a team's offense. If it a team's bread and butter is the sweep, they should practice the sweep. If it is play action, then they should practice play action. If it is the spread option, they should run the spread option. I think the concept of running up the score is when a team goes away from its bread and butter in the hopes of a quick score. That is not giving the backups experience in the team's offense and it often lengthens rather than shortens, the game. Perhaps a backup QB in a Wishbone offense throwing bombs to the end zone from midfield would be a good example. I always felt that UF's back-ups, even in lopsided games, stayed within the offense. To force a team that is pass-oriented to run the ball every play if the game is well in hand denies its young players the experience needed to run the offense if ever pressed into duty due to injury. To start throwing flea-flickers or bombs when the defense isn't crowding the box still strikes me as tasteless. -Zeb --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
