I don't know how they compare to back then, but I do know that Rice, in contrast to Stanford, does give a good bit of merit based scholarship money (Stanford claims to have a good work/study/loan financial aid package, but all of their non-athletic scholarships are need based, not merit based).
Since he's a National Merit Finalist (so far) he'd likely qualify for at least some of that merit based aid - we'll just have to crunch the numbers. --- On Tue, 2/17/09, John Vega <[email protected]> wrote: Rice had some pretty aggressive scholarships back in the day. IIRC, many were merit based (like Bright Futures). Granted that this goes back 20+ years, but Rice was about the same price as in-state UF if one qualified for a merit scholarship. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
