Just one (& only one) comment regarding the helmet law/edict/proposal that
UF is instituting/instigating/infuriating:

Did it ever occur to any of us (save me – of all?) that since a large
portion of students have recently left their parents’ direct supervision, UF
is extending the in loco parentis rule that covers elementary & secondary
education to the collegiate arena? It seems that how litigious society has
become, if UF at least implements the helmet rule, then parents would be
less liable to try to sue the university in the case that a severe accident
would happen to their child who happens to be out of their direct
supervision.

Just another point to ponder.

Geez. This phys. ed. teacher has entirely too much time on his hands! Let’s
see: Phys. ed. teachers’ conference in 2 weeks, coaching association
convention in 3 weeks, football practice in 6 weeks. That means school (for
me) starts in 7. Oh boy.
