Neither one of you was looking where you were going?
Was there dense fog?
Neither heard anything?
Glad there was no damage to you or your boat.
I assume you are facing rear ward. Maybe you should get some of those glasses that the bike riders use to see cars coming up behind them?

I was nearly broadsided by a bass boat in the single scull Sunday morning. Fortunately they were only under trolling motor power. Quick maneuvering by the two crafts made for about a foot of clearance---except for my starboard oar, which I was about to pull into my boat---so I thought. Just then, a passenger grabbed my oar(not knowing, obviously, how unstable a racing shell is)and lifted it up over the side of their boat letting it pass along over about 5 feet of gunwale and then releasing it post transom. So here I am leaning to my right at a 30 degree angle with my port oar 3 feet under water and my starboard oar 3 feet in the air…hanging on to balance for dear life. My buddy on shore was dying. Said he wished it was filmed for Youtube. Following about 10-15 seconds of flailing about wildly, I got it under control and paddled in. Most excitement I’ve had in a while.Go Gators!!!!--
