I have a dumb question. Can you get a rear view mirror for that craft?
Also, (seriously) I believe that there are sunglasses that have two
"rear-view" mirrors on each side of the glasses.

I look back every few strokes to make sure I'm clear. Unfortunately, racing
shells and trolling motors operate in near silence. My friend said they were
all digging around in their tackle boxes and letting the trolling motor take
them out while nobody was paying attention or steering. I accept some fault
and will be more vigilant, especially around the boat ramp and dock area.

Neither one of you was looking where you were going?

Was there dense fog?

Neither heard anything?

Glad there was no damage to you or your boat.

I assume you are facing rear ward. Maybe you should get some of those
glasses that the bike riders use to see cars coming up behind them?

I was nearly broadsided by a bass boat in the single scull Sunday morning.
Fortunately they were only under trolling motor power. Quick maneuvering by
the two crafts made for about a foot of clearance---except for my starboard
oar, which I was about to pull into my boat---so I thought. Just then, a
passenger grabbed my oar(not knowing, obviously, how unstable a racing shell
is)and lifted it up over the side of their boat letting it pass along over
about 5 feet of gunwale and then releasing it post transom. So here I am
leaning to my right at a 30 degree angle with my port oar 3 feet under water
and my starboard oar 3 feet in the air.hanging on to balance for dear life.
My buddy on shore was dying. Said he wished it was filmed for Youtube.
Following about 10-15 seconds of flailing about wildly, I got it under
control and paddled in. Most excitement I've had in a while.

Go Gators!!!!
