You need a trolling motor on that thing.  Can the oars!

I was nearly broadsided by a bass boat in the single scull Sunday morning.
Fortunately they were only under trolling motor power.Quick maneuvering by the
two crafts made for about a foot of clearance---except for my starboard oar,
which I was about to pullintomyboat---so I thought. Just then, a passenger
grabbed my oar(not knowing, obviously, how unstable a racing shell is)and
lifted
it up over the side of their boat letting it pass alongoverabout 5 feet of
gunwale and then releasing it post transom. So here I am leaning to my right at
a 30degreeangle with my port oar 3 feet under water and my starboard oar 3 feet
in the air…hanging on to balance for dear life. My buddy on shore was dying.
Said he wished it was filmed for Youtube. Following about 10-15 seconds of
flailing about wildly, I got it under control and paddled in. Most excitement
I’ve had in a while.
