Yes, we do have more underclassmen than the schools you mention. Nor did we
just lose Tebow. We lost what, 11 players to the NFL? We also lost more than
that in Srs. Some of those lost were juniors, like Pouncy.
Our Gatorade Player of the year does have campus time, as Steve mentioned, but
not game experience. Our fabulous recruiting class? All are still freshmen
some of whom are starting. We are a young team by anyone's imagination. A
team that lots of people thought would be great, and they are, but aren't as
great as thought. The lack of experience is obvious. They're young, mostly, and
no amount of "coaching them up" is going to make up for that.
We'll just have to do the dreaded "wait until next year" until they get better.
As Randy also said, I'm not giving up on them. They'll be fine.

Veteran is a relative term.

I assert that there is no factual basis for the claim that we have
substantially fewer upperclassmen (or more underclassmen) than any
top-level football program in the country.

I will go further and say that this "50 to 55" underclassmen and
"this is a young team" excuse is used in lieu of "this is a lousy
team" or "this team has problems."

Do we really think that we have more underclassmen than Oklahoma?
Alabama? Auburn? Nebraska?
