Charley Pell as one of the greatest program builders?  Sure, I'm on board with that.  He built Clemson into a national champion, and UF into a should-have-been national champion.

Charley Pell as one of the greatest coaches?  I don't agree.  He coached so tight sometimes he squeezed the air out of himself and the team.  Note that both Clemson and UF had their greatest success after new head coaches took over.

Any conversation about greatest coaches should include Charlie Pell. Yes, cheated, etc. But, he lead the construction of facilities and even about thinking about providing facilities all these stud players would have to have before even thinking about coming to UF. Without Charlie Spurrier would have never gotten the talent. Neither would Meyer.
