Spurrier put Georgia in its place and really gave the team and fans the confidence that they could not only beat Georgia, but could beat Auburn and Georgia back to back--and do it while obeying the NCAA rules. He laid a lot of old ghosts to rest and retired the Gator fans' motto "wait 'til next year." Maybe time improves on your memories, but I don't remember the Gators looking as bad in 97 post-Danny (they were 10-2) as they've looked this year post-Tim. How many national championships did SOS win without Danny W? Helen Huntley wrote: I still give the edge to Spurrier, who created a winning tradition. Meyer just had to revive it after our unfortunate Zook interlude. I want to see Meyer win a national championship without Tim Tebow before I hand him the title.
