I sort of agree, his demeanor on the sidelines needs to get better, it's not embarrassing to me, but at some point this season it will affect the outcome of a game.
Working the refs is part of the game, but when you ask you players to be profession, pay attention to details and stop getting foolish penalties, the first time a Ref hits him with a 15-yard unsportsman like conduct penalty or worse boots him from the game, he will have lost a bunch of credibility with the players. This is where someone like Charlie Weis or Jeremy Foley needs to step in and put their arm around him and say, relax, you don't have to press so much, tone it down and coach.. IMO, he's pressing, it's his first HC job and there is a bunch of pressure, he knows that everyone expects more at UF, but Foley can tell him he's fine so don't worry.Keep the fiery personality but channel it in the right direction, he's asking his players to do it, he needs to set a better example. Bad calls happen move on. His coaching demeanor is embarrassing to me. I ridiculed Nebraska when Pelini does this, Indiana with Bob Knight and the same with Florida. I fully understand that cursing at officials is part of the game and do agree that ESPN could have muted the on field audio, but they wanted a good story. But his antics go beyond 'working the refs' and are unprofessional to say the least. You can see Saban riding the officials, but I don't think I have ever seen someone have to restrain him. I have never seen a coach refuse to listen to the refs explanation and then waste a timeout to rant even more. His sideline demeanor has to improve, quickly. Emotion and passion are great, but you have to be in control, no matter how egregious the call. I would expect either Foley will have a conversation this week, or Slive will hand down a penalty next time this happens.
