I really don't begrudge Meyer going back to his childhood favorite school, and I really don't believe that he lied about why he left UF, in that I believe he meant what he said when he said it.
But here's the thing that Mary's comments clarify for me. It's not that Urban is a bad guy, it's just that he never really was a Gator; he was a Buckeye who happened to work at Florida. He did his job well, but when it came down to it, OSU is the job he'll risk his life and family for and UF isn't. That's why we feel jilted. That's something I also worry about with our current coach. Can you really be a Gator and think that the UGa and FSU games are just 'faceless opponents'? I don't think so. There's no question that coaching at Florida takes it's toll, but are we content to have a coach (even a great one) who is an employee and not a Gator? I have no answer; I'm just mulling over the question.
