We’re at Alabama tonight!! We can still beat them, even with Yeguette and
Rosario out. They have just lost 3 players to “unspecified team infractions.”

Come on Gators!!!

Florida Gators, coming off back-to-back losses, lose forward Will Yeguete for
big SEC game vs. depleted Alabama

By <http://www.palmbeachpost.com/services/staff/jason-lieser-17930.html> JASON
LIESER Palm Beach Post

GAINESVILLE — Florida coach Billy Donovan was deeply troubled when he reached
Will Yeguete. After crashing into the base of the basket support during
Saturday's game against Tennessee, he was unconscious and bleeding from the
head.

"He was just lying there with his eyes closed," Donovan said Monday. "We were
trying to wake him up. They were shaking him and he didn't really respond. Then
finally he kind of came through and when they rolled him on his back there was
blood all over the floor and blood coming out pretty good."

Yeguete needed 10 stitches to sew a cut above his right eye and suffered a
concussion. It is his second concussion this season. He did not travel with the
team for Tuesday's game at Alabama (7 p.m., ESPN) and Donovan said he didn't
know if Yeguete would be able to return before next month's SEC Tournament.

Donovan said there are five components in UF's concussion test, and he has only
passed two. He also is sensitive to light.

"I don't think he's having any symptoms where he's sick or he's just dizzy all
the time," Donovan said. "I think he feels OK, but he's not passing these
tests."

Yeguete, a sophomore, had emerged in a regular role for Florida at forward. He
started 10 times and was averaging nearly 23 minutes per game. He is not a
prominent scorer, but is third on the team at 6.1 rebounds per game and second
in steals with 31.

The Gators (19-6, 7-3 SEC) lost him less than six minutes into Saturday's loss
to Tennessee, when he flew in to block a shot and fell into the basket support
headfirst. The Volunteers handed Florida its second straight defeat, and the
winless week dropped the team from No. 8 to No. 14 in the Associated Press poll.

Without Yeguete, the Gators have major depth concerns. They typically rely on
nine players, but Yeguete and guard Mike Rosario (hip) are out. Forward Cody
Larson has been out with an illness, but could return Tuesday .

The only post players that definitely are available to play significant minutes
are starters Patric Young and Erik Murphy. Donovan can try to use small forward
Casey Prather (6-foot-6), guard Bradley Beal (6-2) and guard Scottie Wilbekin
(6-2) as post defenders.

Florida might catch a break by facing a likewise depleted Crimson Tide roster.
Alabama coach Anthony Grant suspended four players for last Saturday's game at
LSU. He said Trevor Releford and Andrew Steele will "most likely" return for
the Florida game but leading scorers JaMychal Green and Tony Mitchell won't.

Florida slides six spots in AP poll after winless week

by Jason Lieser

Rankings-wise, the Gators picked a good time for a bad week. Despite two bad
losses last week, Florida only dropped from No. 8 to No. 14 in the new
Associated Press poll.

Holding at No. 12 will keep the Gators in contention
for a top-four seed in the NCAA Tournament. Their next four games are against
unranked teams.

Florida lost by 20 points at No. 1 Kentucky, then followed with a decisive home
loss to unranked Tennessee. The Volunteers came to Gainesville on Saturday and
won 75-50, but were up 14 points late in the game.

The Gators also did not suffer too much in the USA Today coaches’ poll, falling
only from No. 7 to No. 12.

Florida faces two unranked opponents this week, starting Tuesday at Alabama (7
p.m., ESPN). The Gators are at Arkansas on Saturday.
