Cox is the third defensive end and sixth defensive lineman to commit to the Gators. The team now has 19 commits in the upcoming class, including six players who are enrolled. Scout rated Cox (6-3, 220) as a three-star player. He has offers from Miami, Iowa, West Virginia, North Carolina and others, according to the website<http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=5020073>. His father played 12 seasons in the league as a linebacker, beginning his career with the Miami Dolphins. He was part of the Patriots’ 2001 championship team and made the Pro Bowl three times.
