Foley bought at least four other UF personnel with him, including an assistant AD who specializes in employment contracts. They wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t just a matter of ironing out details. The plane is still on the tarmac because the University President has to meet with Foley to work out McElwain’s buyout.
I know some of you are lukewarm, but I love this hire and the way Foley has handled it tells me he’s getting better at it the more he does it. Keeping most of the defensive staff tells me Foley is counting on a quick turnaround, with McElwain installing his offense and keeping our if it’s not broken don’t fix it defense in place. If they can salvage recruiting (a guy that follows it closely thinks we’ll be able to take a class of about 30) and can patch together an Oline next year, I think we can be competitive right out of the gate.
