I suspect a CD solution would satisfy the needs of only a few. My preference would be a larger (writable) removable media (Zip?) followed by a hard drive. The hard drive approach seems like it might have the most growth and flexibility potential not to mention being more universal. Not as many mother boards would be capable of booting a zip.
