Interesting idea.  More and more cards though, can have their MAC address
software configured.  On the other hand, it would be a lot harder to guess
the MAC addresses on someone's network than the IP addressing scheme.  The
other good thing about the MAC address is that it is much less likely that a
piece of software will transmit the MAC address than the IP address.  It
would certainly appear to be more secure than using onlythe IP address,
however I would imagine it would mean a fairly radical overhaul of the way
GNAT Box works.
