Jenni,
Yes, it does have that facility (email identity format).
Unfortuately the Static-to-Dynamic arrangement (outlined in GTA document)
was unsuccessful.
Definitely initiating the VPN from the Linksys end, but the logging was very
rudimentary so it wasn't possible to get much info out of it

When I attempted the static-to-static arrangement (using the Linksys current
IP) the Linksys locked up and needed to be restarted (power cycle). This
happend each time the static-to-static arrangement was attempted.

I have given up on the BEFSX41 for this kind of stuff - I'm putting it down
to cross platform compatibility issues. There have been many firmware issues
associated with the BEFSX41 so the inablity to create a tunnel between it
and the GB-1000 shouldn't really be surprising.

Thanks for your posts everyone

Hamish

Hamish
Dies the Linksys have a facility to send an identity in email format as
well as the IP addresses? The dynamic-static document specifies that you
need to set the identity (because the static GB treats the remote GB as
a VPN Client), and it definatly won't work without it. You would
obviously have to initiate the VPn from the Linksys end, as it is the
client. Does the Linksys have any debug logging for VPNs?

Alternatively, you could just set up the static-static vpn and change
the config slightly whenever the IP address changes. I guess that
depends on how frequently it changes though.

Subject: [gb-users] VPN between BEFSX41 + GB-1000

Has anyone managed to get a VPN tunnel working between a Linksys BEFSX41
and a GB-1000?

The GB-1000 has a static address and the Linksys is dynamic.
I have tried to configure the systems as per the static to dynamic
gateway document, but without any luck

When I try to create a tunnel based on the current IP address of the
BEFSX41 and the GB-1000 (ie as per static to static arrangement) the
BEFSX41 locks up and you need to cycle the power to get it going
again....

Any hints/tips etc would be most appreciated.
(Note: There are sufficient licenses on the GB-1000 to cater for this
tunnel)

Hamish Cant
