I check the switch ports when I'm connecting to a switch but, in some
cases the GB-Ware is connecting to another device such as a Barracuda
which as far as I know, also does not include a provision to check for
port errors.

All my equipment is immediately adjacent so I don't have long, twisted
or poorly routed cable issues (everything is pretty much in the same
rack). All of the cables are high quality CAT-6 cables and some have
already been replaced, just in case.

The console port stats only show connections, packet counts, bandwidth
and summary info, no error stats that I've ever noticed. BTW - anybody
know if "connections" corresponds to "flows"? Been reading a lot lately
on how P2P programs open thousands of very small flows so that the
bottle neck isn't bandwidth but the number of flows that can be
simultaneously processed.

I'm trying to get to the error counters via SNMP but so far no luck. Is
a remote access filter required on port 161? I've tried adding one but
still no go. Not necessarily trusting my SNMP program (an old copy of
Cabletron's SPEL) I just downloaded the demo for Solarwinds and it
didn't work either. Any other gotchas on configuring SNMP for GB-Ware
(V 3.7.2)?

Thanks,
Mike Benedict
