Are GCC 15 and 16 using a new scheme and therefore depend on these symlinks? If you two are able to understand what GMake is debugging (I fail to) I can invoke 'gmake -d' or 'make -d' (both do accept certain flags in order to debug less than everything) when the current build stops and provide the logs.
