Good decision! I now understand that it's easy to use in particular situations.
My wish is to add a bug free version of ld to it.

(xz-bootstrap looks a bit useless since in my experience a modern GNU Tar is
needed as well. And also GIT, CMake is already supported.)

I am not that much interested in getting pre-built software. My PowerBook is
not used productively since 1½ decades, therefore it's OK when it cannot be
used. What I am doing with it is helping to make working software. Which is
compiling and complaining.


Maybe it's worth to record in MacPorts' bootstrap ports very exact version
numbers.
