I think this - the large difference between reads and writes - is
becoming much less true lately. At least, I'm coming to this conclusion
reading reviews on popular sites like Anandtech. But of course I'm still
learning about SSDs myself - it's a field evolving very quickly - I'm
also interested for my own machines: as a matter of fact, if / when
sizes of the order 300 G become available I would be tempted to replace
the system disk altogether.

Which brand / model are we talking about?
