SSD should shine vs rotational when multiple users are simultanously doing I/O, either read or write, a priori this is the usage pattern of the farm. Anyway, given the amount of RAM the file cache hasn't even reached all the RAM yet, still 24GB to go: Mem: 66112124k total, 41655672k used, 24456452k free, 2331608k buffers Swap: 64002952k total, 0k used, 64002952k free, 36334252k cached > Incidentally, I also notice that X and gdm are running on the machine; > they aren't using much in the way of resources, but it seems unnecessary. Having a graphical login is sometimes useful in a datacenter, and the ressources used are quite minimal :).
