Thanks for pointing this out.  Having checked the LGPLv2.1 I think it is 
in fact OK after all (I may have been thinking of two other problems, the 
problem we had with polylib which was GPLv2 rather than LGPL and the 
inability to use LGPLv3+ libraries with GPLv2-only programs).
