Hi Andrea, I assume you are talking about leopard geckos? Below you describe a
very unreliable thermometer, the dial type. The other one I can't make a
judgement call on, if you bought it from Radio Shack it should be pretty close
to the right temp if not right on the money.
My suggestion: Throw away the dial thermometer. It cannot be trusted! The
outdoor "probe" style is much more reliable. You want to place the probe end
where the geckos are, on the substrate they sit on where ever you want to
measure. You will need to secure it if you want it there permanently.
