>From what I understand, it can be dangerous to feed meal worms, unless you
crush their heads before serving. It makes them easier to digest I heard
too.
I try not to leave the bugs in the cages alive, because they can borrow INTO
& OUT OF the GECKO.... eek! I've heard of animals dieing because of this. So
I hand feed my animals, at least with the meal worms.
& also, if you haven't heard.. crickets can borrow into & out of the animals
too. I have to watch them with all my animals, frogs, gex. They can cause
some real damage. I heard that you should crush their jaws before you give
them to the animals. & with the crix, you can't kill them like this (i dont
think), or at least its rare that they died becuz of it. That way they can't
borrow out of the animal once their in.
I feed my crix, baby spinach,oat meal, crackers...carrots, potatos, dark
greens but no lettuce, thats bacuz I heard its not good for my Frogs, thats
all, I'm not sure about the gex. & some prepared crix food, its green moist
cubes... I can't remember what it's called. cricket bites maybe.
I don't know that much about Mealworms.
BTW guys, if I'm wrong about any of this please tell me<G>
 hope i helped:)

Subject: [Gecko] mealworms

Hi;

Since I just started my gecko hobby, I have a small question.

I heard that it isn't a good idea to feed mealworms to gecko's and other
reptiles.
I've been told that it could harm the inside organs of the animals; also
I've
been told that mealworms are very hard to digest for the gecko's.
But many reptile breeders give it to their animals, so I don't realy know if
it
is save to feed them mealworms now and then or that it would be safer to
never feed them mealworms
and only crickets and grasshoppers.

Does anybody know if its true that it is dangerous to feed mealworms now and
then?

In a local fishing supply store they also sell mealworms but they are a bit
larger
then the regular mealworms sold in a terrarium shop, but not so large like
morioworms.

Are there different species of mealworms?

What is the best food for crickets and mealworms to make them a healthy food
for my
reptiles?

At the moment I feed my crickets a mix of 'muesli' (a mix of dried cereals,
fruits and nuts),
and some dry cat food, but I am not sure if thats the best way.

Hope somebody could help me out;

Thanks in advance;
