Phelsuma's and Ptychozoons do not really chew but if they take a large,
potentially dangerous pray they smash everthing that sticks out of the mouth
off. Quite little remains to bite its way out then. Colembola-larvae however
are very strong. It does not seem impossible at all that they eat their way
out of a geckoes intestines. My father lost a few Peacock-chicks due to
damage by not quite dead mealworms. The worms had not eaten their way out
but dammaged the lining of the oesophagous sack. This happens more in
unexperienced chicks which swallow the worms without killing it. In lizards
I ahve never seen any damage, exept in some dealers store, but then how the
worm got in and how it got out was not documented. I would put my money on
larvae eating themselves from outside into a dead lizard. That would at
least explain why I have once seen Mealworms (in a petshop) eating their way
out of a quite large dead gartersnake..
As for the petshop involved. It is closed now but such infamous shops once
were the only places the general public got an impression of our hobby...
