Besides the ideas that have already been suggested, I'd like to ad something
that I did to be prepared.
I purchased a "Multi Function Power Center". It's a portable, rechargeable
unit that plugs into your wall to charge it up. Once charged up, it has an
outlet that you can plug light, heaters, etc. into.
My rack systems are heated by heat cable and use little wattage. So, this
is ideal for me to plug my racks into, and will last for a few hours.
It would run my fridge-ubator for about half a day.
I hope to buy a small, quite gas powered generator when we get a house.
Something that can be run around the clock and power more stuff if need be.
