James and Renee
You hit on the point!
Does anyone have any thoughts
on whether this might be detrimental in the long run, and what we might be
able to do to correct it?
I believe it is detrimental and leads to infertility and demise.
What to do about correction and prevention?
This for those of us that keep Phelsuma or other gex Indoors is what we have
to rectify.
I believe there of course is no substitute for real SUN
but even Emmanuel has given me specific lightwaves that have some merit in
providing benefit to gex. this as far as I can tell isn't disputed and I will
get some quotes later on this from some of the papers I have and post them.
the question for me remains to further experiment with these specific
wavelengths in which I of course have to get the bulbs and the fixtures and
prepare at set of distinctive parameters in which the Phelsuma would be
subjected to this UVB so that data can be collected to report.
This is real radiation and I believe it is a little harder to obtain said
bulbs because the UVB at high ratios can be destructive.
I will get the papers and report back with the actual waves in nanometers
later tonight and also what luck I have had in acquiring the bulbs. I know
this subjected has been debated before. I am not talking about high output
bulbs most of us use, reptisun, chroma 50/50 vitalite, etc., rather a single
high UVB output bulb that would subject a single specimen to dose at specific
intervals like a "kemocage". I know people have written about this and I will
give them credit tonight with their words, but they found validity in what
they wrote about and I haven't heard any better idea here except outdoors or
luck
later
