[Gecko] nonfunctional toe pads

Hi I wouldlike to knowmwhat causes disfunctional topads, Ihave a sikorae female that has a few toepads that dosnt "grip" could someone tell me what causes this in is it possible to cure. I friend of mine has a tokay were all toepads are disfunctional
