I bought a Gekko Grossmani from a petstore, and at the time of purchase, he could not
climb the glass in his tank at all. He would attempt to, but most of the time he
would just run into the glass or make it a little ways up only to slide all the way
back down to the ground. I began to mist one end of his tank every night, and in a
couple of weeks' time he was able to climb the glass and stay up there all day. He
now spends almost all of his time on the glass. I have even moved him into a 20
gallon high tank, and I think he is much happier now. I am sure his disfunctional
toepads were due to total lack of humidity at the petstore.

Hi Danne,

Usually this is because the skin in the toepad area did not shed properly
due to too low humidity in the gecko terrarium.
