Greetings fellow saurophiles!

I wanted to tell you that I think I made Roxy's hiding bowl a little more
comfortable. I saw her lying on the sponge in her bowl, and that made me
think that she dowsn't like lying on the non-slip rubberish shelf liner on
the bottom of the tank too much. I can understand that. So I washed out
the cover of a 2 lb. can of coffee I bought on sale (gargantuan!) and it
almost snaps on the bottom (top upside-down) of the hiding bowl. Waht a
lucky coincidence!

What was strange was that after I made the change, Roxy went right into the
bowl, and then poked her head out and watched me. It is very weird to be
watched by a lizard when you're doing something else. Someone else on the
list (sorry, I forget who now) has a similar experience but more pronounced.

Whenever I pick up Roxy or have to get into her bowl, I do my best to reduce
her level of stress. I say things like "That's a good girl." in a calming
voice whenever I'm going to interact with her and spend a few minutes with
my hand right in front of her to let her get used to me. She usually licks
my hand or smells it. I am very careful ever since she dropped her tail
(which has grown back in the last month or so) and when I pick Roxy up I
sort of slide my fingers under her belly. slowly pick her up and let her
walk up onto my hand. She hardly ever displays any more. If she does, I
stop or back off. I am learning to be very sensitive to her behavior.
