Hi Julie!
I was not aware that the orchid bark could be a dangerous substrate for the
Leopards. I have had my original two Leos for about two years now, and they
have always been on the bark. I have not had any problems with them, but I
don't want to keep them on it any longer if you think it could harm them.
The two that have been digging have only been with me for about 4 months. My
first two have never been diggers. All my Leos are females, so there should
be no chance of egg laying. I am not ready to take on the responsibility of
breeding. I just like them for pets for the time being. What other
substrates can you recommend besides the papertowel and carpet?
Thanks for all your help!
:o) Tobey

You should get rid of that, it is not a good substrate for leos. For
beginner leo keepers I recommend totally non-digestable substrate, like paper
towels or indoor/outdoor carpet. You do not want to risk impaction from
ingestion of substrate. Beginners don't usually have the powers of
observation more advanced gecko keepers have to see when this is happening
anyway. >>
