Hi all,
You guys know I keep rhacs, but honestly, this is my first year or so out
with them, so I'll always still be learning...
What I'm wondering is, at what age does an adult pattern become
evident/permanent?
I have a nice sized little girl (rhac ciliatus) that's going to be a year
old in March (bought as a hatchling; I'm assuming that if bulges were going
to show up, they would have by now). Like a lot of people, I bought her for
her pattern; a beige-gold color with a lot of white on the tail.
But this week, she developed the most gorgeous black 'freckles' all over.
Not heavy, but a lot. No, I'm sure everything's fine: they're symmetrical in
a lot of places, and definitely look like pigment :) It's adorable! Talk
about leopards changing their spots :)
But being new to rhacs: is it common for a permanent pattern to show up at
this stage in life? I thought at first it may have been her mood or temp (my
male does that), but it no, she has them all the time now. Or is it possibly
a sign of sexual maturity? You see, I bought my breeding pair as adults;
this is the first one I've raised to maturity.
Look forward to hearing from some who work with these guys.
Thanks,
