I'm not sure about ciliatus colours either. At night they do go a different
shade, even colour, but the freckles have me stumped too. One of my females used
to have most of her 'eyelashes' tipped in black. Reminded me of a mascara
session gone wrong. A couple of months later she lost them, and they re-appeared
all over her body. Can't wait to see where they'll show up next. I can't think
of any logical reason for that. It certainly doesn't sound like some kind of
camouflage advantage.
Maybe it's just a girl thing.
I keep telling everyone, they're really silly-atus.
